Housing.com and Commonfloor raise silly money in push to dominate India's property listings market

Housing.com (formerly Housing.in before they spent over $1m on the .com and the coolest phone number in India) was already one of the best/easiest-to-use property portals in the world. This financing gives us real details on their journey so far (4+ funding rounds and only 100k listings in 20+ cities).

So a long way to go toward market saturation.

The investment round follows the capital raising by Commonfloor, which specialises in Indian apartment and gated-community listings. Predictably the niche focus reduces the number of listings available to view on the site.

The IIT dominated Commonfloor 'core team' (http://www.commonfloor.com/about-us/core-team) is very male and very brown. Wouldn't be surprised if their Friday afternoon drinks were Pimms with Fish & Chips..

Other challengers include makaan.com and (a very poor showing from) IndiaProperty.com
